NEWS: 4th JOINABLE General Assembly Held in Venice
On 24 February 2026, the 4th General Assembly of the JOINABLE project was successfully held in Venice, hosted by Venice Lagoon Plastic Free (VLPF) at its premises.
Co-funded by the Interreg IPA ADRION Programme, JOINABLE brings together partners from Croatia, Italy, Greece, Montenegro, Albania, and North Macedonia to advance a joint approach to the Blue Circular Economy in the Adriatic–Ionian region.
Strengthening Cooperation for the Blue Circular Economy
The General Assembly provided an opportunity for partners to:
-
Review the progress of project activities across all Work Packages
-
Coordinate upcoming pilot actions and joint methodologies
-
Align communication and dissemination efforts
-
Strengthen cross-border cooperation among participating countries
Special focus was placed on harmonised marine litter monitoring methodologies, clean-up actions, digital tools for data collection, and the development of circular value chains.
Contributing to EU Mission Objectives
JOINABLE actively contributes to the objectives of the EU Mission Ocean and Waters for 2030. Through coordinated monitoring and data collection, project partners support evidence-based policymaking at regional and European levels.
Data gathered through digital tools feed into the EMODnet database, ensuring that marine litter information from the Adriatic–Ionian region is systematically recorded and shared.
Bottom-Up Engagement and Circular Solutions
As WP2 leader, Venice Lagoon Plastic Free continues to promote a bottom-up cooperation model, engaging volunteers, municipalities, and SMEs in monitoring, removing, and transforming marine litter into secondary raw materials and public-use objects.
This collaborative approach reinforces citizen engagement while supporting the transition toward circular and sustainable marine resource management.
The 4th General Assembly reaffirmed partners’ shared commitment to restoring marine ecosystems through cooperation, innovation, and practical solutions across borders.
