NEWS: Training of Trainers in Venice: Digital Solutions for Clean-ups, Marine Litter Monitoring and Abandoned Boat Detection
As part of the second work package of the project, a two-day Training of Trainers workshop was held in Venice from May 30 to 31, 2025. The event was organized by VLPF, with a focus on testing digital tools for identifying abandoned boats, clean-ups, monitoring marine litter, and valorizing plastic in aquatic environments.

During the first day, participants were introduced to the functionality of the applications, including the use of the NIR device for material identification. The second day was dedicated to fieldwork – on Venetian Beach, trainees had the opportunity to apply their knowledge through hands-on marine litter monitoring and clean-up operations in real conditions.
The workshop brought together trainers from all partner countries, who will apply the skills gained in Venice during their national clean-up and monitoring events scheduled for September, using the tested digital tools.
This training marks the beginning of a broader commitment by trainers to implement digital and innovative solutions for a cleaner marine environment and a blue circular economy.
